Our aim is to provide free sailing to anyone who has a disability and wishes to try sailing or take it up as a leisure activity. The able2sail team consists solely of volunteers from all walks of life who give their time and knowledge to provide the opportunity for disabled people to participate in sailing trips around the west coast of Scotland. Without Volunteers we would have high overheads and require to charge or indeed put additional resources into fundraising. As a Charitable Trust, we are delivering our vision to enable as many people as possible to experience the thrills, often peace and solace, new environments and challenges which sailing a cruising yacht can best provide.

Volunteers sail as part of a crew of 4 (including a skipper) and will help us fulfil our goal of offering sailing experiences to disabled persons. Sailing trips vary from the normal half day sails (morning and afternoon) to our annual West Coast sailing trip which sees the boat venture further afield to Oban and beyond, with crew undertaking a week at a time onboard.

All our volunteers are members of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme (PVG) which is managed by Disclosure Scotland.
